Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach for Player Development Long Island University (LIU), an NCAA DI institution, is seeking an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach for Player Development at Long Island University will be responsible for assisting the head coach and coaching staff with the overall development and management of the men’s basketball program. This position includes coaching, recruitment, student-athlete development, program administration and fiscal management responsibilities, as well as development and implementation of a strategic plan for the program.
Position Summary:
The position will assist the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with duties as assigned in the coaching, coordination, and management of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball program and the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist the Head Coach and collaborate with the coaching staff in all functions related to the scheduling and planning of all team meetings and practice sessions;
· Assist the Head Coach and collaborate with the coaching staff in all functions related to the scouting, video review, strategic preparation and game-plan execution for intercollegiate competitions;
· Recruit highly skilled student-athletes for the Men’s Basketball team;
· Assist with necessary administrative duties in support of the Men’s Basketball program including, but not limited to, travel planning, budget management, ordering and distribution of equipment/apparel and planning of external program events;
· Work closely with Head Coach, athletic training, academic and student services, and athletic performance staffs to monitor the well-being, status and progress of student-athletes;
· Develop and implement programs to assist student-athletes in their transition into the college environment;
· Work with Athletic Department staff and University administration in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
· Participate in other program related duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Three (3) years of collegiate men’s basketball coaching or program operations experience.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills to effectively and appropriately evaluate and interact with student-athletes.
· Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and a record of commitment to NCAA compliance.
