Job Summary
| Job Summary |
This position is responsible to assist with recruiting, game planning and for the positive development of all aspects of a NCAA Division II basketball program in compliance with all NCAA, MEC Conference and institutional rules and regulations.
The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will help oversee all areas of operating a successful college level intercollegiate athletic program while reporting to the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics. |
Duties and Responsibilities
| Duty/Responsibility |
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to, effectively assisting in coaching a competitive basketball program, which promotes sportsmanship among athletes, ensures compliance with all NCAA conference, MEC, and institutional rules and regulations;
- Effectively assists in recruiting qualified student athletes to participate in the men’s athletic program.
- Assists in the planning, organizing and implementing of inter-collegiate games and practices.
- Effectively promotes Concord University academic and athletic programs to potential students.
- Ensuring that players associated with the basketball/golf program are eligible under NCAA and MEC regulations.
- Assisting the Head Coach in developing and implementing clinic(s) and summer camp(s), and effectively monitoring student athlete academic progress; referring or counseling where appropriate, and motivating the athlete.
- Establishing and maintaining good personal relationships with student athletes, staff, the community and the media.

Education/Knowledge
| Minimum Education | Bachelor's |
| Required Licenses/Certification |
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business, science or closely related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License

| Required Skills |
- Demonstrated ability to identify and recruit outstanding student-athletes.
- Excellent communication, management and organizational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks is essential.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, as well as the demonstrated ability to adhere to such regulations.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours which may include early/late hours, occasional weekends, and the ability to travel

This is a .92 FTE, eleven-month position.
Progressively responsible collegiate coaching experience preferred.
