POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is a part-time position within the Athletics Department at Emmaus University that provides direct coaching leadership and operational support for the men’s basketball program. This role plays a critical part in advancing the competitive success, culture, and sustainability of the program through effective coaching, recruitment, and student-athlete support.
This position supports a Christ-centered, student-focused athletics experience that emphasizes holistic student-athlete development. Recruitment and retention of student-athletes is a central priority of this role and is advanced through intentional coaching, relationship-building, and collaboration with campus partners.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Coaching Leadership and Player Development
The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach supports the head coach in all aspects of coaching and program leadership. Responsibilities include:
Assisting with the planning and execution of practices, competitions, and training sessions.
Supporting game preparation, scouting, and film review.
Contributing to player skill development and overall team performance.
Modeling and reinforcing team culture, expectations, and standards.
Maintaining compliance with NCCAA, MCCC, and institutional rules and regulations.
Student-Athlete Recruitment and Retention
Assisting with recruiting efforts, including: lead generation, recruiting/travel to HS/club events, communicating with recruits and parents, and supporting campus visits.
Collaborating with Enrollment and Athletics staff to support recruiting pipelines.
Investing in student-athletes through mentorship, discipleship, and spiritual formation.
Supporting academic accountability, eligibility, and progress toward degree completion.
Serving as a positive and visible role model within the athletics community.
Athletics Operations
Assisting with travel coordination, equipment management, and facility-use as assigned.
Assisting with uniform/laundry processes, equipment inventory, and seasonal reconciliation.
Stewarding athletic facilities usage, and assisting with setup, teardown, equipment requests, preparation and clean-up needs with Facilities and Athletics staff.
Supporting athletics advancement and engagement efforts, including Talon Club events, donor engagement, alumni events, and special initiatives.
OTHER DUTIES
Participate in departmental meetings, training, and professional development.
Assist with athletics camps, institutional events, and other initiatives as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach or Athletic Director.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required.
Master’s degree preferred.
Collegiate or high-level basketball coaching and/or playing experience
Demonstrated experience in recruiting and player development.
Knowledge of NCCAA and MCCC regulations preferred.
CPR, AED, First Aid certification or willingness to obtain

Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and team travel.
Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with coaching and athletic administration, including lifting up to 30 lbs.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and willingness to drive for team and athletics-related activities.
