POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS POSITION:

PURPOSE;
This position, under the direction of the Head Coach, independently performs and is responsible for (1) assisting the Head Coach in the coordination of a safe, enthusiastic, growing sports program, (2) the recruitment, supervision, and coaching of NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) athletes, under the guidelines of the college, KCAC (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) and NAIA policies and procedures, and (3) working with all staff to provide a quality program and encourage student athletes in both athletic excellence and good sportsmanship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in administrating all phases of a NAIA sports program, including recruiting qualified student athletes.
Adhere to the College recruitment scholarship model.
Lead, support, and prioritize student retention and persistence to graduation.
Create and foster a positive environment of growth, development, and support for student-athletes, both in and out of sport. Hostile, demeaning, and derogatory coaching and communication tactics will not be tolerated.
Assist in formulating the team’s competitive schedule.
Assist in organizing and training student-athletes for successful and safe competition.
Keep abreast of current trends and methods by participating in clinics, workshops, etc. that contribute to professional development and self-improvement.
Adhere to college, KCAC and NAIA policies and procedures.
Foster cooperative working relationships with your immediate supervisor and any staff or team members associated with the program.
Cooperate with other coaches to provide the optimum sports program possible under existing conditions.
Adhere to all College spending policies and procedures.
Adhere to the operational sports budget.
Actively lead fundraising efforts for the sport program, as well as for the Department of Athletics.
Assist in preparing timely and accurate documents, such as travel expense statements, itineraries, etc.
Take the initiative to provide new ideas and concepts to improve the efficiency and productivity of the staff.
Support the Department of Athletics' mission, vision, and values.
Assist in monitoring and supporting the academic success of student athletes.
Lead community engagement and service-learning opportunities within the sport program.
Assist in planning and conducting pre- and post-season conditioning and training programs.
Assist in planning and leading pre- and post-season individual meetings with student-athletes to discuss progress, development, and goals.
Help prepare and manage records for the team.
Assist in arranging team travel and meals.
Assist in overseeing the safety conditions of the facility or area where the sport is conducted at all times.
Assist in coordinating visits by recruits and their families.
Assist in the general upkeep and equipment protection under the program's jurisdiction.
Carry out other related administrative duties as directed by the Head Coach, Dean of Athletics, and Assistant Athletic Director.
Participate in staff and team meetings, providing input and suggestions.
Assist in providing continual evaluation of processes and procedures. Responsible for suggesting improvement of area operations, efficiency, and service to internal and external customers.
Work in collaboration and cooperation with other departments and academic divisions on campus, using timely and appropriate judgment in upward communication regarding department concerns and responsibilities

Game Management Assistant :
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Dean of Athletics and Assistant Athletic Director
POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS POSITION:
Student Workers as authorized
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as game manager for home contests as assigned.
Help ensure that all athletic contests held at Bethany College are administered effectively and in alignment with the College’s core values.
Monitor fans and crowds; help ensure the game and stands environment is a positive one for student-athletes, officials, and spectators.
Provide support for game day staff, officials, and visiting teams.
Prepare locker rooms for visiting teams and officials.
Escort officials to and from locker rooms.
Assist with the concessions purchasing, inventory, and sign-up process as needed.
Assist in counting and depositing concession money boxes and gate money boxes as needed.
Assist with the scheduling and training of student workers as needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from constituents, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must have a clear understanding of the NAIA philosophy and the role of athletics in a private, church related liberal arts setting
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of desktop publishing
Ability to communicate effectively to various audiences, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration, and the community-at-large.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be results-oriented.
Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals, but includes exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases. Work outside involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises—semi-frequent or frequent conference-wide travel, or assigned locations; frequent, prolonged, and irregular hours. Work performed indoors is generally with ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
TRAVEL: Travel is required by the team schedule, as determined by the coaching staff, the Dean of Athletics, the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
