Summary

The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Men’s Soccer Coach by coaching Cadet-athletes, recruiting, monitoring Cadet-athletes’ academic progress, scheduling, managing travel, overseeing the discipline and conduct of the Cadet-athletes. This position reports to the Head Men’s Soccer Coach. All the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of the United States Military Academy (“USMA”), Army West Point Athletic Association Inc. (“AWPAA”), the Patriot League Conference (“Conference”), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”).

Scope of Impact

The responsibilities outlined in this job description are integral to the success of the AWPAA Men’s Soccer program and AWPAA. This position has high level influence in the recruiting, coaching and development of the Men’s Soccer program. This person represents the Men’s Soccer program at all times in public and is willing to do all duties needed of the program. Decisions made by this position impact the health and safety of Cadet-athletes and public relations for AWPAA and USMA. Failure to comply with NCAA rules could result in NCAA violations, negative publicity and a negative impact on recruiting. Decisions associated with designated responsibilities, will be made in conjunction with the Head Men’s Soccer Coach and the designated Sport Administrator.

Level of Decision Making

The position is acts as an extension of the Head Men’s Soccer Coach and has direct access to the Cadet-athletes. The employee must maintain a high level of professionalism, moral and ethical character, and be a role model.

Success in this position will be evaluated by the Supervisor on the employee’s performance in a variety of areas, including but not limited to: Commitment to AWPAA Mission, Vision and Values; and supporting the AWPAA Strategic Plan and Priority Results.
