The Assistant or Associate Athletics Trainer, under the license of our Team Physician, will assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine in all activities related to the delivery of health care to our varsity student-athletes in assigned sports (primary assignment will be women’s basketball) which includes working cooperatively and in conjunction with the Strength & Conditioning Staff. Design, implement and supervise appropriate treatment and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes, by maximizing and individualizing integrated training programs to achieve desired outcomes.
All duties must be completed in compliance with University, Conference and
NCAA
regulations.

Responsible for the coordination and supervision of Villanova’s Division I varsity athletic programs (as assigned; including, but not limited to primary sport(s) assignments). Responsible for all phases of student-athlete healthcare
Assist the Assistant AD, Sports Medicine with duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to, supervisory day-to-day operations of the sports medicine facilities, the implementation of the Athletics Department drug testing program
, hiring and recruitment of Sports Medicine Department personnel, departmental budget oversight, drafting and implementing policies and procedures.
Design and implement treatment and rehab programs for time-loss and post-surgical rehab cases.
Serve as a liaison between Sports Medicine, Sports Performance, and Physical Therapy staff regarding rehabilitation programs.
Serve as liaison with the Student Health Center and outside medical practices associated with the care of varsity student-athletes.
Responsible for daily electronic medical documentation for all student-athletes.
Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Medicine.
Formal Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (Assistant Athletic Trainer) to Master’s Degree (Associate Athletics Trainer) in sports medicine/athletic training or related field; current
NATA
certification; Pennsylvania Athletic Training Class A Certification required. Current
CPR
/
AED
for the Professional Rescuer Certification.
Specific Job Knowledge:
Extensive clinical athletic training experience including: preventive, evaluative, and rehabilitative skills.
Must have knowledge of health care insurance issues and drug testing protocols.
Minimum Work Experience:
Two years+ (Assistant Athletic Trainer) to five years+ (Associate Athletics Trainer) of progressive athletic training experience.
Must have extensive experience with post-surgical rehabilitation.
Work Skills:
Ability to create and maintain medical documentation records, including S.O.A.P. notes, daily rehab updates, and injury reports and proficiency with personal computer applications necessary.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate and instruct during rehab and functional training protocols.
Equipment Knowledge:
Ability to utilize therapeutic modalities and rehabilitative equipment.
Experience working with women’s basketball
Working Conditions:
Considerable time spent outside in various weather conditions
Travel required
Significant night and weekend hours
Must be physically fit to lift equipment, ability to lift student-athletes, heavy manipulation of athlete’s bodies for physical conditioning and physical therapy.
