ASSISTANT SAILING COACHÂ

Â

Washington College, an NCAA Division III member of the Centennial Conference, is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Sailing Coach. The individual hired will be responsible for assisting with all phases of the Washington College Sailing program, within the college, the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) conference, and Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) rules and regulations with an emphasis on recruiting and retaining highly qualified prospective student-athletes. Â
Â

• Assist the Head Sailing Coach with program operations and maintenance, athletic instruction/coaching, team practices, conditioning, and recruiting.Â

• Conduct player evaluations at the beginning of the season and coach players of all skill levels.Â

• Foster team building and positive team morale.Â

• Mentor students and monitor student-athlete academic progress and well-being through advising and referrals and help resolve academic and non-academic issues.Â

• Assist with recruiting and scouting activities; develop and maintain rapport with prospective student-athletes.Â

• Works with athletic communication and compliance staff regarding media relations for the Sailing program.Â

• Works with training staff to ensure that all athletes are medically cleared to participate.Â

• Works with athletic department office to ensure that all athletes meet NCAA eligibility requirements.Â

• Exercise unbiased and independent judgment regarding the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.Â

• Maintain compliance with all rules of relevant governing bodies including NCAA, ICSA, MAISA conference, WC Athletics Department, and Washington College policies.Â

Qualifications

QualificationsÂ

• Bachelor’s degree

• playing/coaching experience at a Collegiate level

• CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain)

• Valid US Driver's License, MD Safe Boating Certificate (or equivalent)

• US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor preferredÂ
