Assistant Softball Coach
The Part-Time Assistant Softball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Softball Coach in all aspects of the Biola University softball program. This position will primarily oversee infield development while assisting with hitting instruction, practice planning, game preparation, recruiting, and the overall growth and development of student-athletes. The successful candidate will support the mission of Biola University by fostering excellence in competition, academics, character, and spiritual growth.
Alignment with Theological Positions:
The person who fills this position must be someone who personally agrees with Biola’s Articles of Faith and Statement of Biblical Principles and who is supportive of the positions taken by Biola as contained in its Eschatology Teaching Position. As such, this person may not speak against or act in a manner inconsistent with these positions during the course of their employment at Biola.
· Serve as the primary instructor for all infielders.
· Plan and lead daily individual and team defensive instruction.
· Develop practice plans focused on footwork, glove work, throwing mechanics, defensive positioning, and situational play.

· Develop practice plans focused on footwork, glove work, throwing mechanics, defensive positioning, and situational play.
· Evaluate player performance and provide consistent feedback for individual improvement.
· Assist with defensive scouting reports and game preparation.
· Assist the Head Coach with the implementation of the team's offensive philosophy.
· Work with hitters during individual and team practice sessions.
· Provide instruction on swing mechanics, approach, bunting, baserunning, and situational offense.
· Assist with video review, scouting reports, and offensive game planning.
· Help monitor player progress and communicate development goals.
· Assist in planning and conducting daily practices.
· Help organize and execute skill development sessions.
· Assist with pregame preparation, defensive alignments, offensive execution, and game management.
· Provide in-game coaching and adjustments as assigned.
· Help coordinate equipment setup and breakdown during practices and games.
· Assist in identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes.
· Attend recruiting events and showcases as assigned.
· Maintain communication with prospective student-athletes and their families.
· Support recruiting visits and campus experiences.
· Build meaningful relationships with student-athletes while serving as a mentor and role model.
· Support the academic, personal, athletic, and spiritual development of players.
· Foster a positive team culture centered on accountability, servant leadership, and competitive excellence.
· Assist with camps and clinics.
· Support fundraising and community engagement efforts when needed.
· Help with travel logistics and other program operations as assigned.
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
· Bachelor's degree required.
· Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience, preferably with an emphasis in infield instruction and/or hitting development.
· Strong knowledge of defensive systems and offensive skill development.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills.
· Ability to mentor and positively influence student-athletes.
· Demonstrated commitment to the mission and Christian values of Biola University.
· Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel with the team as required.
· Approximately 25 hours per week.
· Daily morning and afternoon practices
· Team travel, recruiting events, camps, and weekend responsibilities.
Compensation: $16.90 per hour (approximately $20,000 for the entire assignment).
