Description
The Assistant Coach is charged with support and leadership of the women’s softball program, under the
leadership of the Head Coach. This role involves collaborating closely with the Head Coach and other
staff to foster the development and success of student-athletes within the program. The coach is
expected to follow all NCAA, Conference Carolinas, and College policies.
Responsibilities
•
Supervising and overseeing all weight training sessions in person
• Coaching duties as assigned by Head Coach during practice.
o This will most likely be instructional sessions of hitting and other skills during fall
workouts and continued into the spring, along with assisting in other duties during
practice.
• Managing travel arrangements
o
Includes booking hotel accommodations, arranging bus or van reservations, and
potentially handling financial transactions using a company credit card.
• Maintaining daily office hours throughout the year to contribute to the program's development.
o Although this commitment extends over all 12 months, it is understood that summer
schedules do not require five days a week. Most summer weeks are three days, allowing
for vacation time. The Head Coach sets these hours, with flexibility as we continue to
work together. Expect to work weekends throughout the year and travel on both
weekdays and weekends for games and recruitment. Hours during the season are often
6-7 days a week as necessary.
• Recruiting during the summer and fall, including Summer Tournaments and possibly High School
Ball.
• Availability for personal hitting sessions with players throughout the day, if possible or necessary
• Additional duties during office hours may include equipment inventory management, assorted
office work, and handling paperwork.
• Regular attendance of staff meetings called by the Athletic Director, or faculty/staff meetings
called by the President of the College.
• Completing NCAA paperwork as required by NCAA and/or Compliance Officer.
• Preparing scouting reports and watching film on opponents when possible.
• Act as a positive role model for young women in all respects, including social media posts, and
conduct during off-campus recruiting in compliance with the College’s mission and the softball
program’s standards.
•
•
The Asst. Coach answers directly to the Head Coach and, when necessary, the Athletic
Director(s).
It is the hope of the current Head Coach that this position will be a collaboration of ideas
between the Head Coach and the Asst. Coach with both coaches being totally committed to the
success of all student-athletes involved with the program.
Qualifications
• A personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Commitment to Erskine’s vision, mission, and statement of faith
• Willingness to offer spiritual support to students and staff
