Description
The assistant softball coach will assist with all aspects of a NAIA collegiate softball program prioritizing recruiting, on the field coaching and other duties assigned by the head softball coach. This position will also fulfill duties within the athletic department in the areas of game management, facilities scheduling, and coordinate referee assignments. This position will report to the head softball coach and athletic director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Successful collegiate coaching, recruiting experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to serve as a strong Christian role model/mentor for student-athletes.
Demonstrated ability to intentionally contribute to the spiritual development of student-athletes.
Demonstrated ability to integrate faith in teaching, coaching, and team culture.
Demonstrated ability to develop a recruiting plan to attract, recruit, and retain quality student-athletes who are an institutional fit and can succeed at Simpson University.
Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Must be proficient in technology, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office software applications.
Must possess current certification in First Aid and CPR.
Self-starter, highly motivated, and well-organized.

Essential Functions:
Effectively assist with all aspects of a collegiate softball program including practice, game, travel planning and organization.
Provide accountability and discipline for student-athletes spiritually, socially, academically, and athletically.
Recruit and retain quality student-athletes who can succeed academically and are an institutional fit.
Participate in all team activities.
Travel to all away games and necessary recruiting trips.
Effectively use social media to promote the softball program.
Have awareness, accountability, and educate student-athletes on the proper use of social media.
Assist with game management, facilities scheduling, referee assignments, and other duties assigned by athletic director.
Physical Requirements:

Outdoor hot, cold rainy environment while performing duties at outdoor events, indoors in gym or office
Computer, scanner, copier, mouse, keyboard, stapler, 3-hole punch, letter opener
Equipment bags, field equipment, playing equipment, office equipment if in office environment, vehicle if driving
Sitting for long periods of time using a computer, being outdoors during events, bending, standing for long periods of time, lifting bags/equipment, demonstrating drills, throwing.
