Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Athletics is searching for an Assistant Coach in its intercollegiate softball program. This is an exciting six or seven month opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. This is a seasonal position from September 1, 2023 through October/November 2023 and January 1, 2024 through April 30, 2024.
Assisting the coaching staff with skill instruction, community involvement, practice/game coaching and camps
Development of hitters and infielders, coordination and implementation of drills in practice and identification of potential recruits at on-campus camps
Teach individuals and groups of players specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice during the traditional and non-traditional seasons, player-to-player sport specific skills, and progressions and drills during daily practice
Assist as needed with travel arrangements for the team
Maintain equipment inventory and oversee distribution to athletes and update internal team statistics, scouting reports and game plans
Interact with various campus offices and departments and promote participation in community service activities by softball student athletes
Maintain contact with high schools and clubs for camp promotions, scouting, and public relations efforts
Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree required
Collegiate experience as a player and 1-3 years of experience as a pitching coach preferred
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
