The Assistant Women’s Softball Coach has both coaching and administrative responsibilities that include but are not limited to, the administration of daily softball operations, recruiting, team training, working with pitchers, practice organization, scouting, and other duties as assigned by the head coach. Experience as an athlete or coach at the intercollegiate level is necessary, and an expertise in pitching is required. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes
Assist head coach in responding to contacts, attending recruiting tournaments, contacting high school and travel ball coaches, and organizing on-campus visitations for prospective student-athletes
Establish and maintain a recruiting database
Assist head coach with travel arrangements, schedule, meals, etc.
Assist head coach with planning pre-game and post-game meals
Plan and conduct softball camps and clinics

Assist with monitoring academic progress of current student-athletes
Assist with all fundraising activities
Assist head coach with daily practice plans
Assist with field maintenance and game field preparations
Assist with video input, organization, and analysis of game and practice footage
Preference given to candidates with a strong pitching background and expertise with ability to act as primary pitching coach, however, all candidates will be considered.
Other duties as assigned by head coach and athletic director
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to teach softball, specifically pitching, to individuals and the team as a whole.
Ability to work with pitchers, design bullpens, coordinate and run individual pitching sessions, call pitches, along with any other pitching duties.
Ability to follow a work schedule as outlined by the Head Coach and department.
Strong demonstrated knowledge of sound principles and NCAA rules. Personal experience with softball.
Demonstrated experience in coordinating and instructing softball camps.
Proven ability to use all athletic equipment and computer software programs needed to perform job duties.
Ability to utilize video tagging software to analyze critical moments in games by athletes and opponents and communicate those to the coaches and team.
Proven ability to provide statistical analysis and reports in regard to softball.
Ability to complete forms thoroughly and to keep them current.
Strong writing skills to prepare clearly understandable correspondence and reports.
Good interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility.
Outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills to relate to a wide diversity of faculty, staff, students and community members.
Ability to speak before large and small groups with evident poise and enthusiasm and ability to effectively motivate team members.
Strong administrative and organizational skills, with ability to follow up and review, to ensure that no details are overlooked and that all arrangements have been made.
A bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics, as well as to understand the needs of students balancing the requirements of academics and athletics.
One year of professional experience
Salary & Benefits:
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 18 (Step 1: $55,142 to Step 4: $63,410), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10)
