REPORTS TO: Head Softball Coach

JOB SUMMARY:

This is a part-time, 4-month position charged with coaching softball, specifically the pitching staff. As the pitching coach for the softball team, this position accepts responsibility of assisting the Head Coach in leadership, vision, and supervision of the pitching staff and help where needed with other softball coaching related tasks. Nichols College, a member of the NCAA Division III, located in Dudley, MA (Central MA) invites application for a part-time Assistant Softball/pitching Coach. This position will start mid-January.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and execute practice plans for pitchers.
• Provide technical skill instruction to aid in pitcher’s development.
• Prepare pitchers for game day with game plans and scouts.
• Attend practices and games in season.
• Support current student-athlete academic success.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA and Nichols College

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience competing and/or working in a college softball environment.
• Solid knowledge and technical skills for the sport of Softball specific to pitching.
• Must have leadership and people skills.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, able to handle a multi-task work environment.
• Computer proficiency
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Light lifting
• Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CPR/AED and First Aid certification
• Coaching experience
