The University of Colorado (CU) Boulder encourages applications for an Assistant Sports Dietitian! This position will serve as an assistant to the Director of Performance Nutrition for the assigned sports programs while supporting the goals and initiatives of the Performance Nutrition Department. The position is responsible for assisting in providing individual and team nutrition counseling and education to improve the health and performance of student athletes competing for a highly competitive, Division I athletics program. Responsibilities include sports nutrition education for maintaining and promoting health and wellness for the assigned sports programs; serving as a food and nutrition resource for student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers; assist in planning meals and pre/during/post fuel for athletes. Responsible for collecting anthropometric data, monitoring hydration and the documentation and analysis of performance nutrition outcomes. Assist in department wide initiatives such as protocol and policy development, and management of interns as assigned.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program and the Performance Nutrition Department. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA.

Providing individual and team nutrition counseling and education to enhance the health and performance of student athletes competing for a highly competitive, Division I athletics program. Perform body composition assessments, as needed, and provide guidance on appropriate levels of body mass, body fat and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and good performance. Maintain open, ongoing communication with the Director of Performance Nutrition, coaching staffs, Strength and Conditioning staffs, Sports Medicine and Team Physicians. Serve as a liaison for assigned teams to the Student Athlete Wellness Team. Provide nutrition care based on the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) guidelines and Code fo Ethics. Track department services using Smartabase.
Develop and design educational handouts, and any additional educational needs; perform grocery store tours/cooking demonstrations; participate in department wide nutrition programming events; assist with recruiting events for assigned teams. Use social media to create education and engage student athletes.
Assist in Managing undergraduate student interns and dietetic interns schedules and assignments; other duties as assigned. Play a key role in the operational structure and perform any other duties that may arise as assigned by the director.
Assist at daily meal services, and with meal planning and travel nutrition, supplements, and fueling hub inventory, purchasing, and distribution. Collaborate with Performance Nutrition Director in budget maintenance and forecasting for athletes nutritional needs.
Assist in supervision of athletes consumption of nutrition products, including meals and snacks.
