Job Summary
The Assistant Sports Information Coordinator is responsible for communication activities and media relations to promote The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Athletics in a positive manner through a variety of internal and external media opportunities. This position’s responsibilities include assisting with managing home athletic contests, including statistics, announcements, photos and game programs, writing and editing content for a variety of publications. This position will also update the athletics website and utilize professional design software.

Ability to develop relationships with and interact with local and regional media outlets as well as national sports media outlets.

Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines.
Must have a visual aesthetic that highlights the department, teams, staff, and student-athletes in a positive manner.
Must possess a commitment to student learning and success, as well as a dedication to growth, development, innovation, and improvement.
Must possess commitment and capabilities to abide by NCAA by-laws and Lone Star Conference regulations.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
Strong computer skills including computerized data entry, Microsoft Office, and Adobe creative Suite.
Successful candidate must have high competencies in writing, grammar, spelling and editing copy.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
