GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Sports Information Director assists the Sports Information Director with the promotion and
publicity of all NCAA Division II and varsity sports. The Assistant Sports Information Director serves as
a positive communication link with a variety of the institution’s constituents, including the staff, media,
fans, community members, alumni, student-athletes, parents and prospective students. This position will
require evening and weekend hours and may be on-call at to respond to requests from any of those groups.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
• Writing and editing press releases, game stories and game notes;
• Assist with updating of the athletics website;
• Exploring and expanding social media outreach;
• Compiling and distributing statistics;
• Website management and familiarity with digital photography;
• Managing home game events; and
• Operating computer programs, including Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop and NCAA Genius
Software.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
• Bachelor Degree;
Experience:
• A minimum two (2) years of successful sports information in a collegiate athletic department
Other:
• Must be advanced in Microsoft Excel, Word and desktop publishing software
• Knowledge of statistical programs, web management experience
• Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
