Primary Function: Assist in all aspects of the institution’s intercollegiate Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field programs

Major Duties:

Assist with and/or perform the following duties at the direction of the Director of Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field:

• Plan daily and weekly practice.
• Coordinate event groups
• Working collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, recruit new student-athletes that can achieve personal, academic, and athletic success at LCU.

Major Duties:

Assist with and/or perform the following duties at the direction of the Director of Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field:

• Plan daily and weekly practice.
• Coordinate event groups
• Working collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, recruit new student-athletes that can achieve personal, academic, and athletic success at LCU.
• Self-report violations of NCAA and/or conference rules in a timely manner
• Actively support and engage in student-athlete community engagement/service opportunities
• Ensure student-athlete well-being by collaborating with the athletic training staff
• Serve as a role model and resource for student-athletes
• Other duties or administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field

Responsibilities:

• Sprint, Hurdles and Relays
• Teaching proper mechanics and form
• Correcting technique
• Designing event-specific drills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work with students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner

• Proficiency in a variety of computer applications
• Willingness to undertake innovative approaches

• Ability to travel as required
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
• First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree required; master’s degree preferred
• Previous coaching experience at the collegiate and/or high school level preferred

Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

• Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
• Required to regularly sit and stand.
• Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects.
• Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly.
• Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
• Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 50+lbs.

NOTE: All LCU employees are required to complete Title IX & Information Security (FERPA) training and Data Security Training at the time of new hire and on an annual basis thereafter. Some positions/departments may require additional training for security or data needs.
