Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Performance, the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Performance to ensure the program’s success as directly related to the skill development and performance of the student-athletes. All staff members are responsible to adhere to the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Hofstra University and follow the job requirements specific to the assignments inherent to strength and conditioning. This position requires working weekends and holidays and attending athletic events as appropriate.
Responsible for knowledge of
NCAA
rules and regulations. If found responsible for a violation of
NCAA
regulations, will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action, including termination if appropriate. Also, may be responsible for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the University has violated an
NCAA
regulation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrates and monitors proper technique in a variety of exercises that will be utilized in the assigned team(s) strength and conditioning program.
Works with coaches and injured student-athletes on assigned team(s) to facilitate return to play.
Supports education of student-athletes by coaching them on proper nutrition, sleep, recovery, and other aspects of healthy living.
Remains current on developments in the field of strength and conditioning.
Assists with the daily operation of the strength facilities, maintenance of database of assigned student-athletes and testing of student-athletes.
Communicates effectively with University departments, staff, and student-athletes.
Available to participate in public relations activities and community outreach programs as well as marketing and development initiatives.
Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedure of Hofstra University, Hofstra Athletic Department.

Bachelor’s degree required.
A minimum of one year of Division I collegiate coaching experience full-time or as a graduate assistant and/or experience working with a Division I basketball program for a minimum of one basketball season.

certification with the

SCCC
certification with the CSCCa.
First Aid/
CPR

AED
certified by an accredited service provider.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred.

_Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
