Job Description:
Summary:
The Swim Assistant Coach and Pool Manager assists in the coaching duties of the NCAA D-III Swimming and Diving program in accordance and compliance with NCAA, North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and The College of Wooster policies and regulations. The assistant coach also participates in all aspects of recruitment, training and development of student-athletes, retention, and the total organization and administration of the program, as assigned.
Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs and implements training and conditioning programs to enhance athletic performance for individuals and teams.
Supervises facility operations, including pool scheduling, lifeguard management, and maintenance oversight.
Supports strength and conditioning sessions and contributes to overall workout execution.
Assists with recruiting efforts, including outreach, evaluations, and communication with prospective student-athletes.
Collaborates with Admissions to attract academically and athletically qualified applicants.
Coordinates student support and retention efforts with Student Affairs and academic resources.
Manages administrative tasks such as budgeting, travel, meals, and equipment procurement.
Engages alumni and parents through fundraising, communications, and social media outreach.
Participates in departmental leadership, committee work, and campus-wide initiatives promoting inclusion and student engagement.
Performs additional duties as assigned, including facility/game management and potential teaching responsibilities.
Requirements:
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.
One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge and understanding of the sport with sport specific certification if applicable.
Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
The ability to obtain College driver certification is desirable.
CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification is required (and can be completed after hire).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Skills:
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Proficiency in writing reports and correspondence.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively and professionally with students, faculty and staff, and the public are required.
Capability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with financial/business analysis techniques.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Basic Word/Excel and ability to learn and operate recruiting software.
Abilities:
