McPherson College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of  Assistant Track and Field Coach – Miscellaneous Specialty. This position is housed within the Athletics Department and reports directly to the Head Track and Field Coach. Located in McPherson, Kansas, the role may be filled as a full-time (10-month contract) or part-time position, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

The Assistant Coach will support all aspects of the men’s and women’s track and field programs, with a focus on one or more specialty areas such as horizontal or vertical jumps, throws, sprints, middle distance, pole vault, or multi-events.

Key responsibilities include providing technical coaching and instruction, assisting with daily practice planning and event-specific training, preparing for competitions, and supporting recruiting efforts in alignment with college and NAIA policies. The coach will also mentor student-athletes to ensure academic success and character development, assist with team travel and equipment management, help run meet operations, and contribute to the administrative needs of the program.

The successful candidate will be expected to foster a positive and inclusive team culture that aligns with the mission and values of McPherson College.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), prior experience as a coach or athlete in track and field at the collegiate or club level, strong technical knowledge of event-specific training, excellent communication skills, and a valid driver’s license. The candidate must also be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred qualifications include USATF or USTFCCCA coaching certifications, recruiting experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, recruiting platforms, and meet management software such as HyTek or MileSplit. A willingness to support broader athletic or student life responsibilities is also valued.
