The assistant coach will be primarily responsible for recruiting and directing, conducting and scheduling practice sessions for the horizontal and vertical jump events within the track & field team. The assistant coach should expect to travel most weekends during the spring as well as days necessary for recruiting, signings, etc. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of training and development, strong leadership skills, successful recruiting, organization and communication skills.
Olivet is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the National Christian College Athletic Association, and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to coaching the horizontal/vertical jumps.
Support the work of the athletic department in achieving the enrollment goals of the university including the Admissions efforts to recruit and enroll undergraduate students.
Recruit students by enriching the campus visit experience, including preparatory contacts, tour guidance, and follow-up.
Serve as liaison between T&F/XC staff and Admissions, allowing open communication and exchange of vital information.
Assist with scholarship process as directed by supervisor, including gathering and sharing financial aid information with Admissions and T&F/XC.
As an Admissions and T&F/XC team member, superintend the recruitment for and growth of Olivet’s T&F/XC program.
Maintain regular, constant contact with prospects as directed by your supervisor through consistent communication via phone, e-mail, texting, social media, regular mail, etc.

Travel to high schools and meets as directed by supervisor.
Assist with the program strength and conditioning for the jumps group.
Possess a good knowledge of the sport including, but not limited to, knowledge of training and conditioning techniques and the ability to diagnose athlete deficiencies and prescribe corrective activities.
Must be able to clearly communicate with players, parents and supervisory personnel.
Previous track & field coaching experience is required.
Personal experience within track & field jump events as an athlete.
An exceptional work ethic and intrinsic motivation.
A positive attitude and outlook personally and professionally.
Strong ability to interact and relate to prospective students and parents as well as the ability to speak publicly and present the Olivet Story.
Strong written and verbal communications skills as well as computer literate.
Knowledge of athletic program for which he/she is recruiting.
Upon hire, must complete the NAIA coaches training course “Character Driven Coaching.”
Reports to the Head Coach of Track & Field, XC. Office located in the Perry Student Life & Recreation Center. Coach will work both on indoor and outdoor facilities. Physical demonstration of the activities will be required. The assistant coach will be classified as athletic staff receiving a 10-month appointment, August-May.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $47,000. Additional considerations will be made for relevant experience and education background.
