Assist with the sports turf management program in the Athletic Department for all turf grass practice fields, competition fields and landscaped areas. Directs turf maintenance for tennis & soccer complex, including supervision of intern(s). Duties include sports field maintenance, turf grass management, sod cutting and installation, irrigation management, mowing, field marking, fertilizing with walk-behind fertilizer, seeding, aeration, spraying and topdressing. Assist in snow removal and in event setups, including setting up tables and chairs, picking up trash. Position requires obtaining a pesticide applicator’s license with 6 months of hire. Relevant coursework, or specialized training beyond high school required; equivalent experience considered. Two years’ experience in sports field maintenance required. High level of understanding of the sports field layouts and markings essential. Ability to maintain and operate mowing equipment, field sprayers, paint machines, carts, tractors, etc. necessary. Valid driver’s license required.
Prefer Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related field.
