The Department of Maintenance of Practice Grounds is accepting applications for an Assistant Turf Manager/Golf Supervisor. This position reports directly to the Sports Turf Manager and carries out and assigns duties as directed. The Assistant Turf Manager/Golf Supervisor possesses skills and knowledge of specific maintenance techniques for the
ETSU
Golf Facility. This position will act as the lead irrigation technician for the
ETSU
Golf Facility and athletic field irrigation systems. This position works independently and supervises the work of others at the
ETSU
Golf Facility.
Facilities employees may be required to report at their regularly scheduled times during emergency closures or during inclement weather to perform essential functions including snow removal duties.

Knowledge of proper chemical use including personal protective equipment requirements, paperwork reports, proper calibrations and application, and proper cleaning and disposal of chemical related equipment/supplies.
Knowledge of specific maintenance techniques, methods, tools, and practices used in maintenance of synthetic, natural turf playing surfaces, and golf course maintenance.
Knowledge of Integrated Pest Management identification of pest and applying proper treatment.
Ability to perform turf management duties at the assigned facility or location.
Ability to instruct and supervise others.
Ability to operate specialized golf and athletic turf equipment.
Ability to maintain, repair, and schedule irrigation systems.
Ability to perform properly calculate fertilizer/pesticide fertilization amounts.
Ability to apply pesticides.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
Possess skills and knowledge of specific maintenance techniques for the
ETSU
Golf Facility on a daily basis.
Possess a skill set in turf management, turf equipment operation, irrigation systems, and integrated pest management practices.
High school diploma required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in sports turf, golf course maintenance, or related fields (may include those with relevant part-time experience or
relevant certifications/education may be considered in lieu of experience).
Must maintain a valid TN Driver’s License during employment.
Category 3 Pesticide Certification.
Golf Course Experience.
17.90 an hour
