JOB SUMMARY:

Lasell University is in search of a dynamic Assistant Vice President for Athletics to oversee and manage all components of Lasell University's NCAA Athletics Program. The AVP is responsible for providing visionary leadership, instilling an atmosphere of enthusiasm and professionalism, and is dedicated to the academic, professional, and personal growth of students. This role encompasses the administration and supervision of intercollegiate men's and women's varsity sports, intramural and club sports, facility oversight, hiring and supervision of athletic staff, student recruitment, and overall financial management. The AVP will partner with Admissions in recruitment and enrollment of athletes and will collaborate with the Office of University Advancement and Alumni Relations to engage alumni, corporate sponsors, and donors in an effort to help raise funds for the Department of Athletics. Lasell University is an NCAA Division III institution and a member of the Great Northeast Atlantic Conference (GNAC).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit, appoint, orient, supervise, and evaluate coaching staff, athletic trainers, and support staff. Oversee and manage all athletic facilities. Provide accountability for all staff and students within the athletics department.
  • Develop and nurture productive relationships with students, faculty, staff, the Student Government Association, alumni, friends, parents, and the local community. Actively participate in various student and institutional initiatives and committees.
  • Prepare long-term strategic planning with financial approaches and implementation steps to establish the direction of goals that will ensure the programs have a competitive advantage in fundraising and alumni engagement, facilities development, and the recruitment, retention, and promotion of student-athletes and athletic personnel.
  • Make sound decisions towards the success of the programs while keeping a positive environment for the student-athlete and coaches through guidance and feedback.
  • Provide leadership, organization, and training for staff in order to attain optimal operational, academic, fiscal, and athletic performance.
  • Understand and foster student-athlete academic success by ensuring that all athletes receive appropriate and timely support, resources, and referrals for personal, academic, and success services.
  • Interact with students and parents to resolve highly sensitive and difficult student-athlete issues.
