Vincennes University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Volleyball Coach. The assistant volleyball coach is a part-time position responsible for all aspects of working with the head volleyball coach to administer the volleyball team according to institutional, regional and national NJCAA guidelines,

Duties and Responsibilities

• Instructing and requiring from all students, the highest standards of citizenship, sportsmanship and conduct.

• Assist to promote the educational welfare of the student-athlete.

• Conducting all events in the assigned sport according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the NJCAA, Region 24 and Vincennes University.

• Ensure that all athletes meet and maintain NJCAA eligibility requirements.

• Monitor the academic progress of each student/athlete.

• Conduct and coordinate study tables for women’s volleyball team athletes

• Supervise students during organized practice and play and student work; make regular checks on condition of facilities and equipment before and after use.

• Work with the SID regarding statistical programs of the team and in making sure the media has access to statistics.

• Enforce all rules and regulations of the college and the athletic department including safety rules

• Control of inventory of athletic equipment in the assigned sport

• Develop a recruitment plan and actively recruit student/athletes

• Attend all meetings of the athletic staff or any other meetings concerning matters pertaining to assigned sport.

• Ability to communicate with young people.

• A desire to work with young people.

• Coaching experience in specific sport applied for or a significant record of playing the sport.

• Knowledge of volleyball offensive and defensive systems as well as the individual skills of attacking, setting, passing, serving and blocking.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

• Coaching experience required

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Familiarity with NJCAA Rules and Regulations

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Strong public service orientation to work well with faculty, staff, students and the community.

• Skills in organization, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
