Martin Luther College (MLC) is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Assistant Volleyball Coach to support its NCAA Division III women’s volleyball program. This role fosters a competitive, Christ-centered environment, assisting the head coach and guiding student-athletes as they grow into leaders for public ministry.
An individual with strong volleyball IQ and a passion for teaching the game will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both the athletic and personal development of student-athletes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with and support the head volleyball coach.
Coach and run drills at daily volleyball practice.
Show and teach volleyball fundamentals and techniques to players.
Assist with film breakdown and analysis.
Support the physical, academic, and personal development of student-athletes.
Travel with the volleyball team to games and events.
Uphold and ensure compliance with MLC, UMAC, and NCAA Division III rules.
Assist with non-traditional spring practices and off-season training activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
A deep commitment to the mission and core values of WELS and MLC, and an ability to apply that commitment in the performance of daily responsibilities.
A high school diploma or GED.
Playing background and a strong understanding of volleyball.
At least three years of coaching experience.
Preferred:
Preference may be given to an active member of the WELS or church body in fellowship with the WELS.
A bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports management, coaching, or a related field.
Experience participating or coaching at the NCAA Division III level.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Participate in physical activity on the court, such as walking, jogging, bending, twisting, reaching, and jumping.
Be able to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds regularly, and 80 pounds occasionally.
Operate fitness center and training hall equipment, mounting and dismounting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & BENEFITS
This position is part-time, primarily working in on-site and off-site athletic facilities, with travel and irregular hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
Exposure to noise and crowded environments.
