POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Coach for Women's Basketball is responsible for supporting the head coach in all aspects of the basketball program, including player development, game strategy, recruitment, and academic support. This position requires a deep understanding of the game of basketball, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes. Responsibilities: • Assist the head coach in planning and implementing effective practice sessions that focus on skill development, team cohesion, and game strategy. • Provide individualized coaching and feedback to student-athletes to enhance their skills, basketball IQ, and overall performance on the court. • Assist with the scouting of opponents, game preparation, and in-game decision-making to maximize the team's competitive advantage. • Recruit student-athletes who demonstrate the talent, character, and academic aptitude to succeed both athletically and academically at the university level. • Develop and maintain positive relationships with high school coaches, AAU programs, and other basketball contacts to identify and evaluate prospective recruits. • Monitor the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in the classroom and in life. • Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship, integrity, and a strong work ethic both on and off the court. • Collaborate with the coaching staff and athletic department personnel to coordinate team travel, equipment management, and other logistical tasks. • Maintain compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing recruiting, eligibility, and athletic participation. • Participate in community engagement activities, fundraising efforts, and promotional events to enhance the visibility and support of the men's basketball program. • Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic department administration. Qualifications: • Collegiate basketball playing and/or coaching experience. • Superior communication skills, punctuality, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. • Irregular work hours such as weekends, holidays, and evenings are to be expected. • Multilingual skills highly preferred Successful candidates should be committed to contributing to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
