Function: The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will provide leadership in the development and evaluation of the teams and individual student-athletes on and off the court.

Scope: Includes planning and management of key aspects of resource development and fund-raising programs.
Duties
Understand, embodies, and supports the team’s philosophy as developed by the Head Coach
Assists the Head Coach in instruction and analysis of student athletes.
Provides skill demonstrations of positions
Critiques athletes’ performance to determine skills and abilities that need strengthening for overall team improvement.
Assists with the recruitment of student athletes
Assists with campus tours, recruiting visits, and identifying PSA’s
Advises students with respect to athletic performance and other personal development issues
Ensures that athletes reach their academic goals by monitoring class attendance and ensuring they receive academic support as necessary
Assists with scheduling pre-season, season and other games
Assists with developing practice plans and individual workouts for players
Responsible for scouting film for future opponents
Uploads all home game film through Synergy
Must have flexible hours, the ability to travel and work weekends
Assists the Head Coach in fundraising for the program and managing the budget

Follow rules and regulations in the coach’s handbook
Monitor Gallego Center for safety when gym is in use for open gym basketball
Responsible for any duties assigned by the Athletic Director that are necessary in the performance of the administration and operation of the athletic programs.
Represent Sul Ross State University, the Athletic Department and your program in a professional manner, on the court/ field and off the court/field.
All other Coaching Duties as assigned.
Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
Working Conditions
Usual: Ability to travel extensively in the University service area and available to conduct daytime or nighttime. Exempt from overtime provisions. Position is Security Sensitive.
Special: May be required to work evenings/weekends for university athletic events.
Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

The report contains information regarding campus safety and security including topics such as: campus law enforcement authority; crime reporting policies; campus alerts (Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications); fire safety policies and procedures; programs to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking; the procedures the University will follow when one of these crimes is reported; and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.

Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. At an elevation of 4,480 feet, and on the periphery of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alpine enjoys mild winters and cool summers. Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis National Historic Site, Big Bend National Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park are all within one to three hours driving distance from Alpine.
