Job Summary/Description

Assists head women’s basketball coach with the coordination and management of the intercollegiate women’s basketball program.

Typical Duties/Job Duties

Responsible for complying with all

NCAA

,

LSC

, Angelo State, and Texas Tech University System policies, rules, and regulations.

Assists with practices and developing player skills and game strategies. Also assists with recruiting and retaining potential student-athletes to Angelo State University.

Assists with academic support for student-athletes and assists with home event management as well as team travel arrangements.

Assists with fund raising activities in the athletics department as assigned by the Director of Athletics or other University administrators.

Assists with player evaluation, promotion of the women’s basketball program, and community engagement activities for basketball student-athletes. As well as positively representing Angelo State and Angelo State Athletics in the community, area, state, and nationally.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of basketball skills, strategies, rules, and conditioning principles.

Ability to conduct practice drills and activities.

Ability to motivate student-athletes.

Skilled in oral and written communication.

Knowledge of

NCAA

compliance rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited university or college is required, and basketball coaching experience or collegiate/professional playing experience required

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited university or college is required. Intercollegiate basketball coaching experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

The position requires prolonged periods of standing with intermittent sitting, walking, reaching, bending and grasping. Manual dexterity is also necessary. Incumbent works mainly indoors.
