McMurry University is currently seeking an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach who will be responsible for assisting the head coach in the overall operation and conduct of the women’s basketball program. This individual will provide support, instruction and guidance to scholar-athletes to improve individual and team performance. Additionally, the assistant coach will recruit scholar-athletes that will represent the University in a manner that will reflect favorably upon the university and athletics department. This is a 10-month appointment.
This individual is responsible for following the policies and procedures of the University, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, and
NCAA
Division
III
in day-to-day operation of the program.

The major/essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions which, are not listed in any particular order of importance or significance:
• Coaching/Student-Athlete Experience: assists the head coach in all phases of the sports program to include the following: coaching, scheduling, conditioning, contest preparation, scouting, practice planning, budget preparation, fundraising, purchasing, and care of equipment & facilities. Monitors the personal, academic, and athletic development of the student-athlete.
• Recruiting: identifies prospective student-athletes qualified for admission to McMurry University; effectively communicates with prospective student-athletes; effectively communicates and coordinates recruitment efforts with McMurry’s Office of Admissions.
• Program Administration: operates within all University, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, and
NCAA
III
guidelines; maintains inventory of equipment, uniforms, and supplies; carry out team travel according to established policies and procedures; effectively communicates within the Department and with university community on matters pertaining to the swim program.
Occasional duties: As assigned by the Head Women’s Basketball Coach or Athletic Director.
Required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree with previous coaching experience at the high school or college level.

Preferred Education/Experience: Master’s degree with previous experience coaching at the college level and/or college level playing experience.
Must be able to frequently work nights and weekends.
