Job Summary
Indiana University East Athletics is seeking an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. This position plays a key role in recruiting, developing, and mentoring student-athletes while contributing to a positive and competitive team culture.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with the Athletics Department to support the overall mission of the university.
Performs a variety of roles for the assigned sport, including recruiting prospective student-athletes, coordinating and assisting with recruiting visits, and providing coaching and supervision during practices and competitions. The Assistant Coach will report to the Head Coach of the assigned sport, or to the Athletic Director.
Actively recruits qualified student-athletes for the assigned sport through phone calls, emails, visits, and attendance at recruiting events. Works with coaches, athletic directors, prospective student-athletes, and their families to promote Indiana University East and encourage enrollment and participation in the athletic program.
Provides coaching, instruction, and supervision during practices and competitions. Responsibilities may include coaching specific skill areas or providing general team support, as assigned.
May assist with the temporary needs of other athletic teams, including coaching and supervision, as directed by the Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director.
Assists with departmental operations and performs other duties within the Athletics Department as assigned.
General Responsibilities
Complies fully with all NAIA, applicable athletic conference, and Indiana University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Assists the head coach in the development of a competitively successful team to represent Indiana University positively and responsibly. Provides student athletes the opportunity for a positive experience and climate in which to achieve their academic, athletic, and personal goals.
Develops instructional plans for individual student athletes and the entire team, ensuring that special needs and issues as identified by the coaching staff are addressed.
Assists the head coach in providing leadership and instruction in the academic, personal, and athletic development of student athletes by counseling team members in academic, citizenship, sportsmanship, and personal matters, as assigned.
Organizes and manages assigned recruiting efforts and administrative responsibilities.
Represents the team, department, and university in a positive, professional and ethical manner; responds appropriately to media, marketing, fund-raising and community service requests, as assigned. Exhibits professionalism in a manner consistent with the missions and goals of Indiana University, applicable athletic conference, and the NAIA.
