Job Description

Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Elmira College was the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and is home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. We are seeking an Assistant Women’s Flag Football Coach to join the Athletics team.

The Assistant Flag Football Coach will support the Head Coach in the development and management of the team, helping to foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive environment for all players. This role will work alongside the Head Coach to compose practice plans, execute team practices, teach the fundamentals of flag football and more. The Assistant Coach will also contribute to the long term success of the program by monitoring student athlete success, promoting good sportsmanship, and motivating athletes to improve on and off the field.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support the Head Coach in all areas ranging from communicating with players to player development and supervision to planning, organizing and ensuring success of all team events.
  • Actively seek out and recruit new talent for the program by identifying potential players through outreach efforts, networking, and campus engagement. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with prospective athletes, providing them with information about the program, benefits of participation, and encouraging them to join
  • Teaching the fundamentals of flag football including passing, blocking, and flag pulling techniques. Supervising and leading team practices while ensuring structure and organization of each practice. Offering mentorship and guidance during games ensuring that players understand strategy, teamwork, and maintaining high performance under pressure
  • Help monitor student athletes’ academic progress and be an advocate for students on and off the field

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience with Football or relevant sport coaching preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
