Primary Function: The Assistant Coach is to support the Head Women’s Soccer Coach in all facets of running a successful NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Program, while maintaining compliance with the Lone Star Conference and Lubbock Christian University rules and regulations.

Primary Function: The Assistant Coach is to support the Head Women’s Soccer Coach in all facets of running a successful NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Program, while maintaining compliance with the Lone Star Conference and Lubbock Christian University rules and regulations.

Major Duties:

1. Primary Responsibilities

   • Assist with all practice and game day set up.
   • Teach breakdown drills, providing individual player attention and more repetitions per player.
   • Assist in planning and oversight of strength and conditioning sessions and individual workouts throughout the season.
   • Assist in designing and implementing off-season workouts for player improvement.
   • Serve as a video analyst.
   • Assist the Head Coach with travel by arranging bus schedules, airline travel, pre and post-game meals and overnight accommodations.
   • Assist the Head Coach in monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, and coordinate study tables as needed.
   • Be a presence in the office, and available to assist players needs.
   • Engage and maintain contact with the sports information office and respond to requests as needed.
   • Ensuring that all University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed. This includes student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling, and academic progress.
   • Manage the program’s operating budget through procurement requests and travel reimbursements.

2. Recruiting

   • Help to meet annual recruitment goals established by the Director of Athletics and Head Coach
   • Build relationships with prospective student-athletes.
   • Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing prospective student-athlete visits to campus and with off campus contacts with prospective student-athletes.
   • Assist the Head Coach in composing and responding to prospective student-athlete contacts throughout the year utilizing various communication platforms. This includes emails, texts, social media, phone calls, attendance at tournaments & showcases, and team camps,
   • Establish, monitor, and maintain recruiting data from utilizing the software program designed by the Department of Athletics.
   • Assist in summer recruiting efforts by attending showcases and other opportunities as designated by the Head Coach.

3. Other Duties

   • Help distribute, collect and inventory player gear and equipment.
   • Establish and maintain community contacts that enhance the success of the program.
   • Assist with fundraising programs to supplement operating funds. This includes summer camps, skills camps, ID camps, and any other programs as designated by the Head Coach.
   • Assist with appropriate program marketing, including social media accounts.
   • Be knowledgeable and able to assume head coaching responsibilities in case the Head Coach is unable to perform his duties.
   • Attain van certification through LCU Public Safety Office to assist with van transportation of student-athletes.
   • Be an active member of the Athletic Department staff by attending staff meetings and other department scheduled activities.
   • Be responsive and timely with all requests from departmental support staff. This includes administrative leadership, athletic trainers, sports information director, etc.
   • Assist in game management duties for other department programs.
   • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.

Job Requirements:

• Demonstrate exceptional leadership and a commitment to and understanding of NCAA Division II athletics and wellness in a private liberal arts college.
• Strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach and counsel student-athletes

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred.
• Previous collegiate playing and/or coaching experience at a higher level and/or graduate assistant experience.
• Previous experience recruiting NCAA qualified student-athletes preferred.
• USC/NSCAA and USSF soccer licenses preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

• Valid driver's license needed.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

• Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
• Required to regularly sit and stand.
• Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects.
• Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
• Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 25+lbs.
