Head Soccer Coach

The Assistant Soccer Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Soccer Coach in all areas connected with the Soccer Programs. He / She is also responsible for recruiting students whose educational, athletic, and personal aims are imminently congruent with the University’s mission. He / She is responsible for conditioning athletes, leading them toward sportsmanlike conduct, and--above all--facilitating and supporting their academic responsibilities. He / She ensures positive representation of the University through the athletic team and the individuals on that team.
Assist the Head Coach in all assigned duties with the program in order to attain maximum success for the program on the local, regional and national level.
Assist the Head Coach with assigned responsibility for evaluation and contact with prospective student-athletes and make recommendations to the Head Coach in this regard.
Specifically, the assistant coach will be responsible for:
Assist the Head Coach with the organization of all recruiting files and correspondence with recruits, including video tapes, high school/college transcripts and game schedules.
Assist the Head Coach with the initiation, maintenance and monitoring of all correspondence, phone contact and other permissible communication with designated prospective student-athletes.
Assist the Head Coach with the observation and evaluation of athletic skills of prospective student-athletes at permissible athletic contests, combines etc.
Make recommendations to the Head Coach regarding the selection of prospective student-athletes and the distribution of athletic scholarships.
Assist the Head Coach in providing the initial determination of the prospect’s preliminary academic eligibility according to the prospect’s high school and/or junior college transcripts.
Attend permissible clinics, camps and combines during the summer within permissible time periods in order to evaluate prospective student-athletes when provided with the opportunity to do so.
Assist the Head Coach with the planning and execution of official and unofficial visits for prospective student-athletes.
Assist the Head Coach with the planning and execution of all team practices and individual skill sessions.
Assist the Head Coach with the planning and execution of all off-season and in-season strength and conditioning programs.
Assist the Head Coach with the organization and execution of all team travel details including air and ground transportation, hotel reservations and meals for the travel party.
Assist the Head Coach with the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of all athletic compliance related activities.
Assist the Head Coach with the program’s budget management operations in order to insure fiscal responsibility.
Assist the Head Coach and the Athletic Game Management Liaison with the development, implementation and execution of promotional activities regarding identified athletic contests.
Provide active participation regarding the University and Department of Athletics community involvement/outreach efforts with the campus community, local community and alumni.
Represent the University, Department of Athletics and specific sport program at local, regional and national meetings when provided with the opportunity to do so.
Insure that all actions on the part of oneself and those of the student-athletes connected to the program represent the mission and goals of the Department of Athletics and the University.
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. The position will also include responsibilities pertaining to Home Game Management.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Participates in campus activities when/where appropriate.
Provides positive leadership, especially in the occasional absence of the Head Soccer Coach.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Effective communication and discipline skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to organize work, establish priorities, and work independently.
