Job Description

The University of Akron, a NCAA Division I (FBS) institution and member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) is seeking applicants for assistant softball coach. This position will provide assistance with the recruiting and administrative functions of the University's softball program, by providing instruction and

coaching to the student athletes while monitoring their academic and athletic development.
Essential Functions:
Provide assistance with the planning and coaching activities as well as decision-making functions for all practices and games.
Provide assistance in recruiting highly skilled student athletes while initiating oral and written correspondence and evaluating prospects from high school teams and summer camps.
Perform various clerical duties including completing activity logs, making phone calls and organizing travel arrangements.
Assist in monitoring the academic development of student athletes by organizing study table sessions and conducting individual tutoring appointments.
Organize various promotional and developmental activities including softball camp/clinics, dugout club activities, alumni games, senior days and other special events

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required. Requires a minimum of 1 year experience collegiate coaching and/or collegiate playing experience. An understanding of recruitment procedures and the technical fundamentals and principles of fast-pitch softball required. Strong motivational skills and communication skills

required.
