Southwestern University seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach. This position assists the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach in all aspects of the Women’s volleyball program. This individual may potentially teach in the Fitness and Recreation Activities (FRA) program pending availability of teaching assignments. This is a 12-month, full-time, exempt position with benefits.

Primary Duties:

• Assist the Head Coach with practice and training preparations including planning and executing workouts for the volleyball players, scouting, film review, team travel, attending to player issues, etc.
• Office work including assisting with budget maintenance, purchasing and monitoring equipment, making travel arrangements and filling travel expense reports, maintaining correspondence, etc.
• Recruitment of student-athletes including phone calls, travel to watch prospects, correspondence, campus visits, etc.
• Serve as game day administrator as assigned.
• Assist with Division of Student Life and Athletic Department functions (e.g. Search committees, department committees, etc.)
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Demonstrated success in coaching or competing at a highly competitive level.

• Knowledge and experience with NCAA Division III competition and legislation.
• Strong communication skills for recruitment, teaching, departmental, and university relations.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Willingness to adhere to the University’s core values.
• Ability to attend work consistently and maintain a regular work schedule.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Texas Drivers License.
• Ability to pas a University’s Van Driver Course.

Preferred Position Requirements:

• Master’s Degree
• Knowledge and experience with NCAA Division III competition and rules.
• Strong computer skills particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, film editing and recruiting software, as needed.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Flexibility to work hours and demands.
