Salary Range: Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Summary

Function: This position will assist the Head Coach in all phases of the Women’s Volleyball program, including coaching current team members, recruiting quality student-athletes on a national and international level, and administrative duties as assigned.

Scope: To serve as a coach and mentor to student-athletes in the sport of Women’s Volleyball. UTSA coaches are expected to use proper judgement in the position at all times, follow all UTSA and NCAA rules and regulations, complete tasks in a timely manner, and represent the University, its athletic department, and the UTSA Women’s Volleyball team in a professional and positive manner.

Duties

Typical:

1. Be knowledgeable of and adherence to NCAA and conference rules.
2. Monitor the compliance to NCAA and conference rules and policies by assistant coaches.
3. Recruit quality student-athletes.
4. Establish eligibility of freshmen and transferring student-athletes and assure continued eligibility of returning student athletes.
5. Assist with all practice sessions.
6. Set training rules for student-athletes and inform them about acceptable standards of conduct.
7. Be active in fundraising for the Athletics Department.
8. Help coordinate Volleyball camp activities.
9. Provide mentorship to Support Staff.
10. Demonstrates UTSA core values: Integrity, Excellence, Inclusiveness, Respect, Collaboration and Innovation.
11. Social Media Experience Preferred.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Periodic:

1. Represent UTSA at American Athletic Conference and national meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in any field of study.
• Three years volleyball experience as a college, professional or international player or coach.
• Ability to travel extensively using personal or rental vehicles to perform essential functions of the job. Travel will be primarily in Texas.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• Good assessment and communication skills to recruit and represent UTSA.
• Specific knowledge in the sport of volleyball and knowledge and compliance with all NCAA, State of Texas, UTSA, and American rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited university.
• Five years volleyball experience as a college, professional or international player or coach.

Working Conditions

• Physical activity in the sport of volleyball, weekend and evening hours and required travel.

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
