POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Coach position works under the supervision of the Head Coach of Women’s Wrestling. This role is responsible for assisting in the comprehensive day to day operations of the women’s wrestling program. Candidates are required to excel in communication skills, punctuality, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Irregular work hours such as weekends, holidays, and evenings are to be expected. Responsibilities: • Assist in coaching wrestling athletes, focusing on improving their technique, form, and mental preparation. • Provide individual and group instruction to enhance player performance. • Collaborate with the coaching staff to plan and organize practice sessions, drills, and skill development exercises. • Focus on player conditioning, skill development, and teamwork during practices. • Assist the head coach in executing game strategies during practices and wrestling matches. • Contribute to in-match coaching decisions and adjustments. • Assist in recruiting efforts by evaluating prospective student-athletes, attending recruiting events, and building relationships with recruits. • Share insights and observations with the head coach during the recruiting process. • Promote academic success among student-athletes, ensuring they meet eligibility requirements. • Collaborate with academic support services to provide resources and support. • Help foster a positive and inclusive team culture based on integrity, sportsmanship, and respect. • Support the head coach in enforcing team rules and discipline when necessary. • Evaluate player performance during practices and wrestling matches. • Provide constructive feedback to players to help them improve and reach their potential. Qualifications: • Collegiate wrestling experience and/or coaching experience. • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment that prioritizes academic success and personal growth. • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to attend meetings, practices, and other scheduled events, and travel as required.
