Temple University's Athletic Advising Depart** ment is searching for an Associate Academic Advisor ***.*
Salary Grade: T23
The Nancy & Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes (RASC) is responsible for providing comprehensive academic support services for Temple’s nearly five-hundred (500) student-athletes on nineteen (19) intercollegiate sports. Under the guidance of Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, the Nancy and Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes provides superior academic, personal and professional guidance to support all Temple University student-athletes. Through core values of diversity, integrity, and collaboration across the University, the Center strives to inspire student-athletes to learn and succeed to their greatest academic and professional potential.
The Associate Advisor works under regular guidance of more experienced advising staff and provides academic support by working with students and records. The Associate Advisor helps to advise students concerning schedules, majors, hours, probation and/ or suspension. The Associate Advisor helps disseminate information regarding curriculum requirements, academic policy, and other related issues as they arise. The Associate Advisor directs students to the appropriate advising staff and may participate in meetings to discuss academic and professional goals. The Associate Advisor helps prepare and present student orientation sessions and assists with course selections and registration activities. The Associate Advisor performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
• Work collegially with coaches, academic/athletics administrators and students to positively affect the academic progress of student-athletes.
• Disseminate information regarding academic performance, degree planning, and structured support services.
• Meet regularly with assigned student-athletes to discuss academic progress and develop individualized, proactive strategic plans for success.

• Work in conjunction with more experienced advisor(s) to implement comprehensive academic plans for assigned teams that contain all program-specific policies and procedures for the semester and academic year.
• Provide targeted, weekly reports to the Senior Director and the appropriate coaches.
• Work in conjunction with college academic advisors to ensure registration meets NCAA eligibility requirements and minimizes the impact their sport obligations have on their academic success.
• Provide registration advising and services, including drop/add, schedule revisions, withdrawals, and initial registrations in accordance with University, conference, and NCAA regulations.
• Maintain working knowledge of University curricula, policies and procedures, and actively communicate with appropriate offices to stay abreast of University changes. Refer students to other University offices and service providers as necessary.
• Act as a liaison between students and faculty, staff, and administrators for the expeditious resolution of administrative problems; maintains a balance between "customer service" attitude and encouraging students to be self-reliant.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience in an academic setting or related field.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience:
* Master’s degree in a related field.
* Experience working directly with student-athletes in the college setting.
