POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate AD/Compliance independently coordinates, plans, organizes and implements all monitoring systems of the Athletics Compliance program, along with developing and implementing comprehensive and continuing NCAA and conference rules-education programs and procedures.  The position also plays a strong role in enforcing University, conference, and NCAA regulations, to include all independent investigations and recommendations to Sr Assoc. AD/Chief of Staff of noncompliance.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Monitors recruiting activities (20%)

• On a daily basis verifies that all coaches have accurate records regarding recruiting telephone calls, correspondence, and contacts/evaluations.
• Independently checks above records for compliance with NCAA Bylaw 13 and makes judgments as to whether there was a reportable violation.
• Responsible for ensuring coaches’ recruiting travel is compliant with NCAA rules by cross-checking travel expense reports and recruiting logs to ensure activities took place during appropriate recruiting periods and within overall NCAA limits.
• Delivers interpretations of Bylaw 13 on which coaches rely and off of which they base decisions.
• Develops and enforces new monitoring strategies on an ongoing basis.
• Compiles rules violation reports for Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief of Staff which include facts/findings and recommendations for penalties/sanctions and communicates penalties/sanctions to appropriate staff.

Monitors financial aid (20%)

• Identifies student-athletes that appear to be non-counters and generates the necessary non-counter certification paperwork to be reviewed by the Financial Aid office and approved by the Faculty Athletic Representative.
• Tracks compliance with NCAA Bylaw 15’s financial aid regulations by inputting all financial aid information into the Compliance Assistant Internet (CAi) software, generating squad lists, and reviewing with Registrar and Financial Aid Office.
• Develops and implements new monitoring strategies on an ongoing basis.

Name, Image and Likeness (20%)

• Manage the department’s efforts surrounding regulatory changes which allow student-athletes to benefit from the use of their name, image, and likeness.
• Manages the name, image, and likeness compliance and rules education operations due to the newly created rules surrounding name, image, and likeness impacting student-athletes.
• Coordinates NIL training and coordinates internal and external partners to execute a broad-based NIL program.
• Leads the Department’s NIL strategy and empowering student-athletes to maximize their impact in the areas of professionalism, financial growth, and NIL. 
• Develops and delivers best in class NIL-specific education for student-athletes and Athletics staff.
• Administers the institution's compliance responsibilities under College Sports Commission (CSC) regulations, including oversight of NIL Go disclosures, monitoring reporting deadlines and requirements, and coordinating with student-athletes and institutional stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
• Serves as the department's primary administrator for the CSC CAPS platform, managing roster and benefits reporting, annual attestations, and other required institutional submissions to ensure compliance with CSC regulations and applicable NCAA legislation.
• Independently develops and implements systems to track student-athlete NIL activity.  This includes providing rules education to both student-athletes, staff, and external constituencies.

Monitors playing and practice season activities (10%)

• Monitors each sport’s playing and practice season calendar to ensure compliance with NCAA rules pertaining to NCAA Bylaw 17. 
• Delivers interpretations of Bylaw 17 on which coaches rely and off of which they base decisions.
• Develops and implements new monitoring strategies on an ongoing basis.

Other ongoing risk management and monitoring duties (which include, but are not limited to) (15%)

• Point person within the Athletic Compliance Office for the planning, advertising, and administration of all sports camps and clinics to ensure compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.
• Independently develops and implements systems to track student-athlete employment.  This includes providing rules education to both student-athletes and potential employers and monitoring that employment for compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.

• Administers participation lists that track seasons of competition utilized by each student-athlete.

• Monitors student-athlete participation in outside competition and outside leagues both during the academic year and over vacation periods to ensure such participation will not have a negative impact on the student-athlete’s intercollegiate eligibility.

• Assists the Department of Athletics in managing regulatory changes.

• Develops rules education content and serves as primary liaison with athletics compliance technology provider.

• Provides NCAA rules interpretations to coaches, student-athletes and staff.

NCAA Training (5%)

• Assists in conducting monthly compliance meetings with the coaching staffs in all sports to provide rules education and discuss monitoring strategies.
• Conducts training sessions with all Olympic sport coaching staffs targeting NCAA compliance and new rules as instituted by NCAA.
• Conducts investigations of non-compliance by gathering information of potential violations. This includes compiling documentation of alleged violations from staff and/or student-athletes.  

Student-Athlete Conduct (5%)

• Works to manage and process student-athlete conduct issues on behalf of the Department of Athletics.
• Collaborates with the Dean’s Office, Housing and Residence Life, and Athletics Administration to manage student-athlete conduct issues.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Sr. Associate AD/Chief of Staff (5%)

CONTACTS** :**

The Associate AD/Compliance will interact regularly with a variety of constituencies including student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, coaches, athletics and university staff, and parents of student-athletes and prospective student-athletes.  The purpose of such contact will be to provide rules education and to provide interpretive support by answering complex questions related to the application of NCAA legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills & ability: 

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to perform accurate detail-oriented work, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. 

• Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a commitment to integrity.

• Must possess the analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to interpret and apply the complex and ever-changing NCAA rules and regulations.

• Advanced knowledge of the complex NCAA rules with the ability to interpret those rules and applicable NCAA investigative methods.

• Ability to educate and train staff on NCAA compliance standards.

• Required to have an active driver's license for the last 3 years; may be required to drive university vehicles

Education & experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Masters or Law Degree preferred
• 2 – 4 years NCAA Division I compliance experience preferred

Salary Grade 7 Exempt: $58,011 to $86,299

Scheduled Hours:    Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm; 38.75 hours per week
