Assoc. Head Athletic Trainer

Overview

The Associate Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing programs for the prevention, evaluation and rehabilitative treatment to athletes involved in various intercollegiate athletics programs at the University. Must know how to manage catastrophic sports trauma, professional first aid and CPR and principles of physiology, kinesiology and anatomy. This position is also responsible for the education of coaches and Athletics’ department staff in first aid, CPR, and AED application. This requires certification by either the American Heart Association/ American Red Cross Instructor program. In addition, this position is responsible for coordination of the athletic training room work-study and student employee program. Responsibilities include completion of appropriate hiring and compensation paperwork, as well as scheduling of students. This position is also responsible for the coordination of Club Sport medical coverage as needed. This position is responsible for assisting the Head Athletic Trainer in planning, coordinating and implementing programs for the prevention, evaluation and rehabilitative treatment to athletes involved in various intercollegiate athletics at the University. This position is also responsible for compliance in the various administrative regulations of the athletic training room. These include performing pre-participation concussion baseline testing, injury assessment documentation, and secondary insurance claims information.
