Jackson State University, an NCAA Division I (FCS) member of the NCAA and Southwestern Athletic Conference and one of the leading institutions of higher education in the region, is accepting applications for the position of Associate Athletics Director of Sports Media. The incumbent will report to the Vice-President/Athletics Director for Athletics and will be charged with the overall promotion of the Athletics Department by developing themes, concepts and ideas to promote and increase awareness of the university’s athletics teams and events.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferably in journalism, mass communications or English.
At least three (3) years of experience in sports information, either as a director or an assistant.

Web content management experience Experience in using Stat Crew statistical software Familiar with publicizing an athletics program via the various social media
Exceptional writing skills Organizational and people skills Must have the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Specific duties associated with this position shall include, but not be limited to: Creating and promoting social media Working with all media outlets Compiling and maintaining statistical information Writing press releases Maintaining the athletics web page Creating publications Supervising sports media staff and working with the media and sports information offices of competing institutions to ensure that results are disseminated as quickly and effectively as possible to all media outlets.
