This position reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director. The Associate Athletic Director for Content Strategy will manage the overall content strategy, brand development, creative ideation and strategic communications efforts for the Athletic Department’s 22 sport teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Athletic Director for Content Strategy provides overall department strategy on content, digital platforms, creative video and design initiatives and strategic communication areas with the goal of elevating the University of Washington Athletics brand and augmenting our ability for revenue generation through increased ticket sales, fan engagement and storytelling through the above channels. The individual will be tasked with developing and managing the overall strategies for the department’s social media channels to enhance brand awareness by implementing processes to capture analytics to create and make data-driven strategies and decisions. Additionally, the position will assist on strategic initiatives for the department and will need to collaborate with department coaches and directors of operations on individualized team strategies, as well as all priorities related to the department’s 22 programs and 650 student-athletes.
The position will have oversight of all creative, digital and communication units in the department with direct management of the Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Advancement, Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications and the Director of Digital Strategy.
The Associate Athletic Director for Content Strategy will work closely with all constituents on the External Relations teams, including but not limited to the Chief Marketing Officer and Associate Athletic Director for Ticket Sales and Service, as well as with the department’s multimedia rights partner, Husky Sports Properties.
Provide overall department strategy on content, digital platforms, creative video and design initiatives and strategic communication areas with the goal of elevating the University of Washington Athletics brand and augmenting the department’s ability for revenue generation through increased ticket sales, fan engagement and storytelling.
Provide oversight and leadership of all creative, digital and communication units in the department with direct management of the Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Advancement, Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications and the Director of Digital Strategy.
Develop digital/creative strategy for individual sports with department coaches and directors of operations on individualized team strategies, as well as all priorities related to the department’s 22 programs and 650 student-athletes.
Implement strategies to capture analytics to create and make data-driven strategies and decisions to enhance sales and revenue generation opportunities.
Assist with strategic initiatives for the department collaborate with department coaches and directors of operations on individualized team strategies, as well as all priorities related to the department’s 22 programs and 650 student-athletes.
Collaborate with the Chief Marketing Officer and Associate Athletic Director for Ticket Sales and Service, as well as with the department’s multimedia rights partner, Husky Sports Properties.
Provide outstanding customer service, as well as ensure the editorial team provides the highest level of customer service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree and five years of experience at a NCAA Division 1 athletic program and/or a Professional Sports Organization or related field, in digital strategy, marketing, revenue generation, communications or a related field.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Poised, professional manner with the ability to work well with diverse types of individuals.
Ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively, as well as be an analytical and critical thinker.
Must be willing to work nights/weekends and holidays.
