The Associate Athletic Director for Development at the University of Maryland Athletics will play a strategicrole in supporting the fundraising efforts of Maryland Athletics and the Terrapin Club. This role will focus on enhancing strategic decision-making and operational efficiencies in the fundraising department and other revenue-related areas in Maryland Athletics. This position will lead in representing Maryland Athletics to University Relations and external stakeholders and partners. Oversee a portfolio of 75 or more potential contributors, alumni, and non-alumni acquaintances, supportingindividual donors contributing $50,000 or more. Develop a sustainable pool of potential donors, resulting in yearly donations exceeding $500,000. Lead a team to meet annual targets of securing contribution commitments exceeding $20 million from over 7,500 uniquedonors.
The Associate Athletic Director of Development will be under the supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Development Officer. This role involves overseeing the Athletics Development team to meet unit and department objectives andactively managing a group of contributors to cultivate philanthropic commitments.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience:
Seven or more years of related experience in Higher Ed, Development, and/or Sales. Supervisory experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
This role is an integral member of the development team, and the position requires an ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral form.
Ability to problem-solve in a timely fashion.
Sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of internal and external constituencies is required.
The ability to take direction.
The ability be flexible, work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects, prioritize a high-volume of work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines under pressure is required.
Familiarity with office MS Office suite is required.
In addition, the ability to manage confidential information with appropriate discretion and tact is essential.
Preferences:
Previous donor database work is preferred.

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and the incumbent must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The scope of the position may require some evening and weekend work (Non-standard work hours).
