Job Summary:

The Associate Athletic Director for Athletics Business is responsible for providing operational and financial support to all of Athletics by serving as the primary administrator with responsibility for overseeing the daily financial operations of the department; performing accounting operations and managing financial audits and internal control functions; assisting with overall fiscal support and analysis.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Provides financial oversight by reviewing and approving all invoices, reimbursements, per diem distributions, contracts, deposits, direct billing applications and cash advance requests for all Athletics departments to ensure that transactions are accurate and consistent with University accounting and budget policies and procedures.
   
2. Serves as liaison between Athletics and the University’s Financial Services department on all accounting and payment matters, including month-end and year-end processes and audits, to ensure an open line of communication and effective institutional oversight of Athletics’ accounting practices.
   
3. Serves as a resource to coaches, department heads and senior staff by advising and educating them on budget and financial issues.
   
4. Manages Athletics financial audits, including audit responses.
   
5. Provides responsibility for all required documentation for conference, NCAA and EADA financial reports and regulations.
   
6. Participates in regular budget reviews with head coaches and department heads.
   
7. Ensures implementation and execution of internal control policies and procedures as required to support revenue collection, inventory control, and accounting requirements.
   
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study.
• 5 plus years of financial operations experience in the sports industry (collegiate or professional) or higher education.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Sports Management or related field of study.
• Experience with NCAA financial reporting.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Must be insurable under the University Motor Vehicle requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
• Skill to perform complex accounting and financial reporting duties.
• Skill in use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
• Ability to extract and analyze financial data in a computerized environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, problem solving and research capabilities and communicate results.
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of independent judgment to perform complex accounting and financial reporting duties.
