The Athletic Department is a vital part of student life and the educational process at Elizabeth City State University. It provides a well-rounded schedule of college athletic competition designed to encourage participation by the student body. The department encourages physical fitness and the development of physical skills and emotional control.
The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance is responsible for ensuring that the University’s Athletic program adheres to all rules and regulations set forth by the institution,
CIAA
and
NCAA
. The position reviews, monitors and reports the determination of student-athlete eligibility, navigates the
NCAA
Clearinghouse process, as well as providing interpretations and updates on
NCAA
legislation and rules education to the athletic department. The Associate Athletic Director is also responsible for producing, modifying and enforcing all policies and procedures for maintaining compliance with
CIAA
,
NCAA
, and institutional rules. The position also investigates and reports possible violations of
NCAA
rules and assists in implementing all infractions.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
Possess knowledge of
CIAA
/
NCAA
and University policies and procedures.
Possess the ability to operate the Compliance Assistance Software (
CAS
) and other recruiting software systems.
Possess strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, Sciquest and
NCAA
Compliance Assistant).
Ability to design, implement and manage administrative systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Ability to direct and perform detailed work with accuracy.
Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with a culturally diverse student population.
Possess the ability to initiate and manage service programs.
Possess leadership and motivational skills.
Possess the ability to work weekends, nights and Holidays, if required.
A Bachelor’s degree with three to five years of athletic administration or collegiate compliance experience and or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience enforcing
CIAA
and
NCAA
compliance rules is preferred.
