General Description of the Position

The associate athletic director for external affairs will oversee the day-to-day operations of marketing, promotions, annual giving program, strategic communications with alumni and various external stakeholders. Will serve as a member of the athletic department senior staff.

1. Develop and implement athletic marketing and promotions strategies to increase revenue and ticket sales
   
2. Work collaboratively with third party corporate sponsorship team
   
3. Work collaboratively with media relations team to create and manage all social media and athletic website 
   content
   
4. Work collaboratively with athletic staff to assist with supervision and management of gameday operations 
   and staff, including student workers
   
5. Serve as a liaison to the various conference offices on external operations
   
6. Work collaboratively with various University personnel to further the mission and vision of DSU
   
7. Attend home contests and select away events
   
8. Serve as a representative for athletic director as needed
   
9. May be assigned supervisory duties of select athletic units and sport teams as appropriate
   
10. All other duties assigned and associated with athletic and university sponsored events
    

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Knowledge of athletic external events and hosting of internal athletic events
2. Knowledge of methods and techniques in composing written communications such as responses to 
inquiries and narrative reports;
3. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer programs to include word processing, spreadsheets, 
graphics, databases, found in such products as Microsoft Office®
4. Experience using software
5. Ability to understand, explain and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
6. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, students, and the public.

Qualification Standards

1. Education: Bachelors required; master’s preferred
   
2. Experience at creating and managing athletic branding
