Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Associate Athletic Director, Strategic Initiatives & Brand Engagement provides leadership and ensures alignment across the department of athletics. This position will partner with the Vice President on leadership of the administration of the athletics department, organizing department wide meetings, the executive staff meeting, sports administrator meetings and assist the Vice President with preparation for board meetings, conference and NCAA meetings and donor meetings. In partnership with the AVP/COO and Sr Associate Athletic Directors, this position will serve as a liaison for several university wide departments, such as Student Life, Office of General Counsel, Human Resources, and in partnership with the Vice President act as a liaison with the Office of the President. This position will partner with the SWA to lead and guide the student-athlete experience, focused on supporting SAAC, career counseling, and other development opportunities for our student-athletes. This position will also assist the Vice President in administrative functions, such as expense reporting, budget management and scheduling. The Associate AD, will work with the external relations team on creative services / branding, team media day planning and execution, fan experience, and student marketing. The Associate Athletic Director, Strategic Initiatives & Brand Engagement will serve as a sport administrator for one or more intercollegiate programs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Campus Liaison

• In Partnership with the executive team, serve as a liaison with student affairs, the Office of General Counsel, Human Resources, and the Office of the President.

 

Student-Athlete Experience

• In partnership with the SWA, work with SAAC on relevant initiatives that include community service, end-of-year student-athlete awards event, and annual fundraising drives
• When needed, liaison with the Career Center, academic support, and ensure we are delivering on the NCAA CORE guarantees

 

Administration

• Assist the VP / AD with expense reporting and the administrative budget management
• In partnership with the VP / AD, organize schedules, agendas, and presentations for senior staff, all staff, and assist with athletic and recreation presentation prep for university board meetings
• Assist the AD with preparation for A10, NCAA, and donor meetings

 

External Relations

• Collaborate on student marketing to increase student attendance
• Collaborate on creative and design services, assisting in overall direction and planning around, physical spaces, social and digital marketing
• Participate in team-by-team media day planning and execution
• Ideate with revenue generation and marketing teams on ways to improve the overall fan experience and attendance at men’s and women’s basketball games

 

Minimum Qualifications:

●      Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

●      7+ years of experience working in higher education with a focus on supporting a Vice President and Director of Athletics

●      Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment

●      Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a diverse group of internal and external constituents 

●      Adherence to professional standards of care, NCAA and member conference rules and regulations

●      The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background check

●      The successful candidate will be required to obtain First Aid, CPR, motor vehicle safety certification, and other job-related certifications

 

Preferred Qualifications:

●      Master’s degree in related field

 

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

●      Occasional need to lift, move, and otherwise prepare equipment and facilities in preparation for practice, competition, and special events

●      Position requires frequent evening and weekend hours

Pay Transparancy:
