The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University.
The Associate Athletics Director for Compliance will assist the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance with the development and implementation of a comprehensive
NCAA
Division I athletics compliance program. Within the context of ensuring compliance with
NCAA
and
ACC
rules for all constituencies of the Athletics Department, this includes, but is not limited to: education, interpretations, monitoring, waivers, investigation and reporting of violations of
NCAA
and
ACC
rules, the development and implementation of policies and procedures that govern the compliance program; and the development of tools and systems to capture data/information to monitor/ensure compliance with
NCAA
and
ACC
rules.
Staff Supervision/organization:
In partnership with the Senior Associate AD, assist with the supervision and operation of the overall compliance program
Supervision of the day-to-day work of select compliance staff members
Organize agendas and take the lead in running compliance staff meetings
Identify issues, problems, and situations that need to be brought to the attention of the Senior Associate AD for awareness, problem solving and resolution
Assist the Senior Associate AD in implementing new ideas for continually improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the compliance staff’s processes, procedures, and workflows
Assume primary responsibility of the operation of the compliance staff in the absence of the Senior Associate AD
Assist in the staff’s focus on continual growth by helping to improve and grow the professional skills of the compliance staff members
Assist in the organization and collection of data for all
NCAA
reports
Provide compliance education to various non-sport specific internal and external groups, as assigned
Responsible for gathering feedback for legislative proposals and facilitating meetings with AD,
FAR
,
SWA
, Senior Associate ADs, and others to determine the institution’s legislative positions
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate AD
Team Assignments:
Support and serve as the primary athletics compliance liaison for six to seven teams and athletics staff for all
NCAA
and
ACC
bylaws
Provide comprehensive rules education, interpretations, monitoring, waiver support, and investigate/ report secondary violations
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master’s, JD or other advanced degree
- Minimum of five years athletics compliance experience at an NCAA Division I institution
- Strong working knowledge of NCAA rules and the ability to interpret, apply, and enforce them

- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Desire to work hard and independently
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information
- Solid knowledge of computer systems

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Seven to 10 years of athletics compliance experience at an NCAA Division I autonomy institution
- Previous experience with all of the NCAA database portals including Compliance Assistant, LSDBi, EC, NLI, Transfer Portal, and knowledge of NCAA and ACC regulations
- Ability to successfully manage in a fast-paced, very detail-oriented environment that involves voluminous information
- Solid knowledge of computer systems including Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, PeopleSoft, and ARMS
- Good sense of humor; positive, mature, and helpful attitude; and ability to respect and work well with others
