Expired Date: Jul 13, 2024The Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete Services is responsible for the overall management and provision of the Student Athlete Services office for all BGSU student-athletes. Other duties include coordinating and being the athletics liaison to the following offices: College Advising and Career Planning, Registrar, International Programs, Admissions (undergraduate and graduate colleges), and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Sport administration responsibilities may be included with this position.
Coordinate and manage the academic support program/services for all BGSU NCAA Division I teams. This includes, but is not limited to: coordinating one-on-one mentor/advising meetings with all first-year students and students determined to need additional support and mentoring for weekly in-person/virtual meetings regarding student-athletes’ academic progress; monitoring student-athletes’ continuing eligibility, satisfactory academic progress, and graduation plan; recommend effective learning strategies to enhance student-athletes’ academic skill set; communicating with coaching staff, and sport supervisor(s) on a regular basis; assist student-athletes with course selection and registration; Oversee SAS full-time staff, SAS strategic planning and policy/procedures. Program administrator of Navigate for the office of SAS. Oversee the New Student Orientation process. Participate in department, campus, conference, and NCAA committees and working groups at the direction of the Senior Associate AD for Compliance. Oversee the Office of SAS day-to-day operations in conjunction with the Senior Associate AD for Compliance. SAS staff training and daily support of academic and compliance interpretations and leadership (full-time). Oversee Registration and enrollment process with the Registrars office (priority registration/holds, degree audit software, etc.). Tutor coordination/liaison to the learning commons. Summer Bridge Program coordinator. Oversee travel letter process and correspondence. Athletics liaison to campus Advising community, Faculty, Registration and records, Transfer Evaluation Services, Accessibility Services. Run weekly scheduled SAS staff meetings. Monitor student-athletes with diagnosed learning disabilities & differences and assist with accessing accommodations approved through the Office of Accessibility Services.
Serve as the lead academic coordinator for Football. Occasional travel with team(s) as needed for academic support. Attend weekly academic meetings with the coaching staff to report out on any issues relevant to student-athletes’ academic success and send weekly and regular academic progress reports and SAS event information to coaches and staff.
Supervise and evaluate Assistant AD (1), Assistant Directors (3) for Student-Athlete Services and other Student-Athlete Services support staff. Ensure all staff maintain consistent processes for monitoring academic progress and standing.
Coordinate and manage the academic and student-athlete support program/services for all varsity teams. This includes, but is not limited to: Academic, Career, Personal Development, leadership Development, and All community service efforts for the department. Communicating with faculty via telephone, email and in person regarding student-athletes’ academic progress; monitoring student-athletes’ continuing eligibility and satisfactory academic progress; recommending effective learning strategies to enhance student-athletes’ academic skill set; communicating with coaching staff any issues relevant to student-athletes’ academic success; maintaining weekly mentor meetings with student-athletes in academic jeopardy; assisting student-athletes with course selection and registration; evaluating student-athletes’ progress assessments.
Assist with ongoing issues and concerns as related to student-athletes.
Manage the departments responsibility in the certification process by communicating NCAA and MAC rules and regulations on satisfactory progress and eligibility of student-athletes; with college academic advisors, coaching staff, athletic administrators, athletic compliance office, Registrars Office and the NCAA faculty athletic representative. Including maintaining records as related to continuing eligibility for BGSU, the MAC, the CCHA and NCAA including grade reports, graduation plans and progress towards degree
Assist in the recruiting process for all 18 sport programs; conduct academic presentations to incoming student-athletes and their parents. This includes evenings and weekends throughout the academic year.

The following Degree is required:
The following Experience is required: - 3 years of progressive experience in athletics, guidance and counseling, higher education, or a related field
The following Experience is preferred: - Previous experience supervising Athletic Academic Advising (or Advisors) or working with Student-Athlete Services preferred.
